Fix Slow Internet When Computer Is Slow?

Can A PC Cause Slow Running Internet?

Looking for help when our computer is slow can be tough. Finding computer system problems or determining its a slow Internet connection can be challenging. Simply put, we will need to know if the root cause is our Broadband service provider speed or if our computer is slow and messing up. A frequent indicator is when the internet websites we are searching download really slowly. To help figure this out there are some easy things you can try yourself.

To speed up Internet surfing try this first. A personal computer has a feature referred to as the Task Manager. It’s quick to reach it by clicking right on the bottom toolbar of the desktop screen. From the pop-up menu and click “Task Manager”. Below your can see an actual screen shot of what it will look like.

Across the bottom of the Task Manager display is a bar that reads: “Processes”, “CPU Usage” and “Physical Memory”. These are the number of computer process currently active and running, the percent being used of the CPU’s (or “central processing unit) capacity and the amount of short-term memory storage (or RAM) used.

We recommend a registry scan to help you figure out the pc’s problems. The scan is FREE – Just click Why My Computer Is Slow and follow the easy instructions. It is quick and easy!

When a pc’s CPU Usage stays higher than 70 to 75 percent for very long it will slow down the computer’s speed on the Internet as well as other functions. And also if the RAM or Physical Memory being used by the processor is above around 60 to 70 percent it can cause it to appear like a slow internet connection problem. This is similar to a storage room at your house that is just too full and crowded and it takes more time to find the things you are trying to find.

How Computer Errors Cause A Poor Internet Connection

Below is a screen shot of a typical Windows error message (see more error message info Here)that one of the service hosts was shut down.

To investigate this Host problem lets look at the Task Manager again.

This Host Process for Windows Services better known as the svchost.exe (or SvcHost). To check it out on your computer click the “Show process from all users” on the lower left (circled in red) of your Task Manager to bring up the Host Processes.

As you can see there are a number of these hosts services listed. This is one of the many methods Windows uses to speed up our computer’s operation by combining “services” together that are used together. The organization of functions is important to help or computer run faster and help any slow internet connection problems. (also see How To Fix Internet Connection)

If you find this error box popping up on your computer very often it is very likely a virus or malware problem. Some Trojan viruses and some worms use a svchost as their hiding place and can be hard to locate and remove. We recommend the free edition of the anti-virus software, AVAST to help with this. It has a scan that is run before Windows starts up and it can be very effective on certain hard-to-find viruses.

And next – as we said before – a good registry scanner, optimizer program can help with many of these and other issues. A registry “cleaner” is an important maintenance tool and should be used on all pc’s, especially those exposed to the Internet extensively.
